ChenSliders #2 : TIME GAMBLE
This is the crossover fanfic in my fan-series featuring my original character Li Chen
and his new Sliders team.

"Can you help us? There is a parallel earth which needs help, it has been taken over by an alien race called the Reetwo" Rip said.
"With my space/time machine I used to be able to travel between universes, until the Time Variance Authority was destroyed. The TVA kept the passages between dimensions safe..
now the passages are closed down for me." Professor Gamble explained. "Yet you lot managed to Slide by mental discipline! Impressive."
Suddenly a clinking sound could be heard.
"We're under attack!" Rip shouted. Some robots began firing towards the group.
"Incinerators! They must have survived the Time War! They've found me! Run for your life!" Gamble shouted.
The Professor indicated to the others to follow him, as he entered his space time machine, which was an isolated building after the door
they had seen him come out of.
Safely inside, Rip asked the Professor what those Incinerators were.
"They were machines built by the Time Variance Authority itself, which rebelled." Gamble answered. "They ended up destroying my home planet and the Time Variance Authority itself" he
continued, almost sobbing.
"You have a time machine, sir", Chen said. "Can't you go back in time to prevent this?"
"No, the events are timelocked. It's a moment in solidified time."
"I understand you. I'm a time traveller myself in my universe. Anything from the present on back cannot be changed, except at a huge
cost." Rip said.
"It was part of a big Time War involving many agencies - the TVA itself, the Linear Men and the Time Lords of Gallifrey. It ended badly
for most of them. Now let's see what we can do, we must stop the Incinerators from taking over earth."
At this very moment Rip noticed that someone was missing, in the confusion. It was Actarus! He had been captured by the Incinerators, or worse.
"A rescue attempt would be suicidal. First we must deal with the pesky robots though. That way we will be able to save your friend."
"How about sending out signal via a mobile phone? Is there any programming in these Incinerators which allows a remote shut-off?"
Rip asked.
"Mmmm.. Good idea, yes there may be. Let's set this up then. See if it works."
"It's worth a shot, folks!" Mr Brittas said.
Gamble looked towards Brittas, and said thinking out loud, "Are you a hologram, Brittas?"
"Hologram? Of course I'm no Hologram."
"Because you seem familiar somehow. I must have met your double some time ago. A long time ago. Or was that in the future?" Gamble mumbled.
"Well let's get working", Rip said, while he opened a mobile phone supplied by Chen himself. He looked at the printed circuit board
taken from the phone and the surface-mount device visible upon it. It was just like his earth's technology. Gamble looked at it and
hooked it up to a device connected to the wall.
"This should do it. I'm switching on!" Gamble said, smiling.
The signal was transmitted on the mobile phone frequencies. Very subtle but it would be received by the Incinerators as well as other
mobile phones. Many, many mobiles began to ring at the same time all over, but it was harmless to them or humans. Incinerators, on the other hand, received a nice little stream of data! Gamble explained the technique to the group of Sliders.
The machines got paralysed, entered into a harakiri mode of operation.
"Let's go find Actarus. He musn't be far from here, perhaps the Incinerators had a base of operations", Rip said.
Having defeated the Incinerators, Gamble stressed that they should wipe out all traces of the robots. The technology was not safe to be
left to the hands of any earth authority. It might end up used in new and deadly war machines.
So the group took some lasers, provided by Gamble, plus a couple of lasers from Rip himself, and went out of Gamble's machine.
They went around the country blowing up all the dead Incinerators.
They found the Incinerators local base and entered it. There they found a number of people who had been imprisoned by the robots, including Actarus himself.
Soon afterwards, they discussed with Gamble whether he could help them get back to Earth-2001, Brittas' earth. There they would retrieve
Goldrake. So Professor Gamble attached his time/space machine to Li Chen himself, using a cybernetic interface - like a bowl - on
Chen's head. This would help direct their sliding. "Our destination is Earth-2001! Let's go" Gamble said. And Li Chen concentrated,
visualising that world itself.
A wormhole manifested itself, around Gamble's time/space machine. The machine and its occupants disappeared, sucked by the wormhole.

Back on Earth-2001, the wormhole formed itself over the red bay once more. The whole time/space machine came out of the wormhole, falling over the reddish sand. The group looked at the main monitor, seeing the surroundings outside of the professor's craft. They could
not see Goldrake or Spacer there! So had they been captured by the Reetwo's ?
"Oh no", Actarus said. "This is my worst nightmare. No no no!"
